Theoretical Approaches to the Improvement of Psychodiagnostic Studies of National Police of Ukraine
Abstract
Abstract. The article is devoted to the issue of finding ways to improve psychological research on the individual characteristics of police officers based on the application of an optimal set of psychodiagnostic techniques. It is noted that psychologists of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine currently use a variety of psychodiagnostic tools for the psychological study of personnel, the choice of which is sometimes insufficiently justified. The purpose of the article is theoretical substantiation and development of an optimal set of psychodiagnostic methods for researching the individual characteristics of police officers. The basis of the search for optimal tools is the use of concepts of multi-level integral individuality and orthogonal personality models. The article reveals the theoretical foundations of the study, in which more than three hundred employees of the National Police of Ukraine took part; the results of using the author's complex of psychodiagnostic methods, which meets the requirements of optimality, are given, clarifications are offered to the terms and definitions used in conducting psychodiagnostic examinations. It is shown that the used theoretical approaches to the optimization of the psychological study of police personnel make it possible to scientifically base the selection of psychodiagnostic methods, based on the results of their use, to supplement and clarify the obtained results regarding the assessment and measurement of individual characteristics of employees, to increase the accuracy of psychological diagnosis. The complex use of basic methods makes it possible to quickly determine the typological features of a police officer, to establish leading trends, characterological properties, etc. In addition, it is suggested to use some others, including projective methods of personality research
