Psychological and Forensic Characteristics of Elderly persons and Single Persons who are Victims of Violent Crimes
Abstract
Abstract. The elderly and single persons are the least protected category of society. In addition to age-related health disorders, which affect the perception of recent life situations and socio-political transformations, persons of this category are limited in access to modern opportunities in the field of obtaining legal and social assistance, due to ignorance of the ways to obtain them, limited access to various Internet resources and platforms. Such a situation is often used by offenders, and they are both outsiders and those connected by family institutions (children, grandchildren and other relatives). Criminal offenses against the specified category of persons are quite diverse – from fraud to murder. The purpose of the article is to determine the psychological and forensic characteristics of the elderly and single persons who are victims of violent crimes. The methodology of this article is based on the use of a combination of general scientific and special research methods. In particular, general scientific principles of systematicity and complexity of knowledge and unity of theory and practice are used. In addition, the application of methods of analysis, synthesis and generalization contributes to the achievement of the set goals. Scientific novelty. The article analyzes the modern approach of domestic and foreign researchers to the issues of studying the personal characteristics of the elderly and single persons. The investigator’s understanding of the data characterizing the identity of the victim allows to establish not only the motive for committing illegal acts, but also the mechanism of their commission. In turn, obtaining such data allows the investigator to competently collect the evidence base and ensure compliance with the procedural terms of the pre-trial investigation. Conclusions. Communicative features of the elderly and lonely people need more thorough research. Social and domestic conditions determine the peculiarities of the behavior of such persons and, accordingly, are important for choosing the tactics of conducting investigative (search) actions with them, aimed at obtaining verbal information
