Psyhodiagnostic Study of Personal Qualities of Courses – Future Police
Abstract
Abstract. The article presents the results of a psychodiagnostic study of personal qualities and typological features of first-year cadets at a higher education institution with specific learning conditions. The purpose of the article is to determine the individual psychological characteristics and psychological types of first-year cadets for their further consideration in the process of training and organization of service activities. The empirical base of the study (n=30) was composed of first-year cadets who began their studies during the period of martial law. Research methods were used: S. Dellinger's psychogeometric test (adapted by A. A. Alekseev, L. A. Gromova); "Constructive drawing of a person from geometric figures" by K. Mahover. According to the results of the conducted psychodiagnostic study, it was established that the dominant figure in the choices of cadets/cadets is a circle, and there are no "pure" figures in the third and last place in the elections, when some figure is given preference. There are no statistically determined advantages in the dominant choice of some geometric figure by cadets of both sexes. The majority of male cadets belong to the psychological types "responsible performer" (33 %) and "anxious-doubtful" (27 %). Among female cadets, "anxious-doubtful" (40 %) and "intuitive" (20 %) personality types prevail. Statistical differences in the preference of the "anxious-doubtful" type among female cadets were revealed (φ*=1.87; p=0.03). Among the respondents of both sexes, no individual-typological features described by the psychological types "emotional" and "emotionally insensitive" were found. The authors of the article make assumptions about the ability of respondents/currents to empathize with others, but with the preservation of their own energy, without spending much effort on empathy and compassion. Based on the results of the study, it was established that most cadets are characterized by sociability, purposefulness, responsibility, and demandingness towards themselves and others. They have a variety of abilities; oriented towards mastery of high professionalism; prone to consistent thinking. Highly sensitive, need support and encouragement. Female cadets are mostly intolerant of disorder; vulnerable, sensitive; able to quickly switch from one activity to another; tend to show concern for others; focused on the responsible performance of their duties. Cadets do not have conservatism and creativity.
Keywords: individual and typological features; personal qualities; cadets, psychological types; psychogeometry.
