Factors of Domestic Violence Committed Against the Elderly as a Manifestation of Deviant Behavior
Abstract
Abstract. Violence remains one of the most common forms of human rights violations, and its causes are reflected in a country's economic situation, social norms, and people's physical and psychological health. Domestic violence can be committed against any member of the family, but most often, its main victims are vulnerable groups, such as children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. The elderly, pensioners, disabled people are one of the least protected population groups, which requires identifying the causes and conditions that contribute to domestic violence. Analysis of cases of violence against these groups is complicated by the lack of reliable data, as many cases remain undetected or unproven in court. Unfortunately, many older people face neglect, poverty, social isolation and alienation. It is because of these factors that they become especially vulnerable to violence, their alienation and physical weakness make them an easy target for an abuser. This article is aimed at determining the psychological factors that determine the perpetration of domestic violence against the elderly, and at the study of domestic violence as a manifestation of deviant behavior. Which, in turn, will contribute to the choice of pretrial investigation tactics of this category of criminal offenses. To achieve the goal of the article, we used general scientific methods of systematization and complexity of knowledge, unity of theory and practice. With the help of general philosophical methods (analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction), a conceptual identification of the studied phenomena was carried out, their characteristics were determined, the corresponding definitions were generalized and formulated, and the logical construction of the structure of the research itself was made. The study analyzed the psychological characteristics of the elderly, which became the basis for identifying them as a vulnerable category. The method of comparison and generalization was also used, individual characteristics were studied and the overall psychological portrait of the offender was outlined. In this article, we singled out the factors that influence the occurrence of deviant behavior and the perpetration of domestic violence against the elderly.
Keywords: retirement age; opposition; violence; antisocial behavior; pre-trial investigation; the person of the offender.
