Psychological Features of Interrogation of Victims of Rape

Abstract

The article describes the results of the author’s generalizations about the psychological characteristics of professional interaction with victims of violent crimes, provides guidance for the optimization of the procedure of interrogation of victims of rape. A rape is the most serious and socially dangerous criminal acts. Purely intimate experiences of victims, deep psychological trauma and other factors give these crimes is extremely latent character and hampered their investigation. In addition, the complexity and specificity of the investigation of rape is the need of a detailed study not only of the circumstances of the event and the victim, as in other cases, but varied the circumstances of their personal life, including intimate. The investigation process is complicated by the fact that the victim does not wish to discuss with third parties the details of the incident, to repeatedly reproduce the psychotraumatic situation, to participate in judicial examination of criminal acts and generally to disclose the fact of rape in its social environment (friends, acquaintances, work colleagues, relatives). But negative emotions, her behavior are driven by the dependency relationships (family, material, professional, etc.) and mechanisms of psychological protection, which prevents the establishment of relations of cooperation between her and the investigator. The above requires not only a high level of legal training of law enforcement officers, but also adequate to the situation of application of psychological knowledge in the process of interaction with the procedural and non-procedural individuals – professional and psychological skills. An integral part of professional interaction of the investigator in the investigation of rape is the psychological impact – active purposeful activity, the purpose of which is to change the mentality or behavior of the object. Its aim and outcome is to change, the restructuring of individual views, attitudes and motives. The investigator must not break the will of the interrogated person; he carries out a psychological impact on the person. Effective use of means and methods of psychic influence is the basis of tactical skill of the investigator.
