Gender Features of Aggressive Behavior of Investigators

Abstract

The article deals with the meaning of «aggression» and «aggressive behavior» of the individual. The basic direction of scientific research is the phenomenon of aggression. It defines the concept, content and displays of aggressive behaviour and posted the generalized understanding of the basic forms of aggressive behavior. The article determines that the nature of aggressive behavior depends on the objective conditions and social characteristics including gender differences. Manifestation of aggressive behavior are mainly individual personality characteristics. The level of aggressiveness being biologically determined in the human environment is exposed to certain modifications. The emphasis is placed on a comprehensive study of different components and levels of aggression. It was noted that differences in aggression may be due to gender roles that encourage male aggression manifestation in some ways, and women – condemned. The article presents data of empirical research of gender-sensitive workers’ aggressiveness of investigators (namely: the Main Department of the National Police in the Chernivtsi region). It is found that the behavior of men and women working in the investigative units vary considerably in forms of aggressive behaviour: they are differently perceived reaction to aggression, different manifestations and expressions of aggression in acute situations. The study concluded that men are inherent in open forms of aggression, women are more prone to indirect forms of aggression. Indicators of gender aggressiveness of investigators are caused by social stereotypes as for men and women behaviour.
