General Psychological Characteristics of Professional Activity of the National Police Employee

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the actual problem in the context of the employee personality of the National Police. The psychological content of law enforcement reflects the principles of the activity approach psychology. The purpose of the theoretical analysis is to ascertain the psychological content of the main characteristics of law enforcement of the National Police employees on the basis of psychological determinism. Analyzing the components of the police we cannot ignore its psychological characteristics. Elucidation of the psychological characteristics of the individual police officer should be done in the light of the specifics of the activity itself. On the basis of law enforcement officers analysis we have determined that in the structure of the individual police officer the most significant features are: a) individual psychological and physiological; b) social and psychological; c) by activity. This fact allows creating a generalized professional psychological model of police officer’s personality, which offers the prospect of optimizing the selection of candidates for professional service and further psychological support service in the police based on consideration of the potential professional adaptability.
